Baby cousins in South Carolina found this baby turtle. I was thinking it was a box turtle, but I have no idea. If anyone could tell me, that'd be great!

Because of the dark coloration on the plastron, I'm going with either an Eastern (Terrapene carolina carolina) box turtle, or a Gulf Coast (Terrapene carolina major) box turtle.

Only the Eastern box is found in South Carolina. There are no three-toeds or Gulf Coast boxes there.

But yes, it is a baby (Eastern) box turtle.
