Hey, i'm new to owning a tortoise, and have just got two 7 month old Herman's tortoises, they are great and seemed to be getting on at first, but now the bigger of the two has started biting the legs of the other?
i don't want to split them up, but i will if i have too, any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Most tortoises do not like company. They prefer to be the sole inhabitant of their kingdoms. Any other tortoises are viewed as competition, combatants and intruders. Your one tortoise is trying to drive his competitor away. He wants to leave the area, but your enclosure walls prevent his escape.

You MUST separate them into their own enclosures ASAP.

Hello and Welcome:) you may not know this because your new. Tom is one of the long term experienced in tortoises members. He knows what he is talking about. So, before something terrible happens, please separate them.

Yes, you need to split them up. The bullying will not likely get better, and the weaker one will eventually fail to thrive :(
