Hi all
My friend recently got a Russian hatchling and when he first got him a bit of skin was hanging down from his neck (presumably because he was being housed with other tortoises and he got hurt!) but anyway he has just contacted me to say the wound has burst open and is bleeding.
He is bringing the tortoise over to my house in the next couple of hours and I am going to clean it out to ensure the little guy doesn't get an infection and I've advised him to remove all the substrate from the enclosure and put newspaper down so nothing gets in to the wound. Essentially I have told him to go to the vet but I want to see if there's any other advise between now and when he is able to get to the vets anybody can give me I can pass on.
Sorry I don't have any pictures because it's not my tortoise!
Thanks

Depending on the severity of the wound, clening it n keeping it clean, maybe some antibiotic cream, might be enough. If it is very bad though, I would definitely recommend a vet. Infections seem to be common, and serious.
