Tortoise is eating his own poo.

Little Tiger for some reason likes his own poo. I don't know why, I guess it is because it looks palatable because it is greenish in color. Is he doing this from a deficiency or because of its color? I know dogs eat their own poo because it tastes good to them and they eat it due to a deficiency.
Is it something to do with my tortoises nutrition or do tortoises do this just for the hell of it?

I don't know why they do it, but almost all will eat their own feces. As they get older they are less likely to eat their own, but will still eat droppings from other animals. Mostly that of dogs. I have been told it is a way to populate their digestive tract with probiotics. Also, I have been told that they are after the protiens that are still availible in the droppings. It is normal.

It is normal, but we encourage that you don't let them if you can get to it first.
