I recently found a tortoise, but I’m unsure about what exact species it is. I would appreciate anyone’s help in identifying it, so I can then figure out what diet is best to feed my new pet. Thank you!

I've only seen a few in person, so I could be wrong, but I believe you have a Texas tortoise there. Gopherus berlandieri. I'm not sure what the legality of keeping them in Texas is. You'll have to check with your local wildlife authorities. All United States Gopherus species are under federal and state protection. Its legal to keep desert tortoises here, Gopherus aggasizzii, but you have to have a "license" which is free and really easy to get here.

Here is the care info:

I highly recommend letting them burrow in the warmer months, and preventing them from using a burrow in the colder months.

I just asked my friend, Google, and he said it is illegal to collect or posess a Texas tortoise (Gopherus berlandieri). And if you "found" that tortoise, basically, you have collected it.
