Hi everyone! I am getting a Hermann's tortoise quite soon and I want to make sure I get the right lighting and heating, I have done research but can't really find anything extremely useful. Please help me out as I want my tortoise to be healthy and happy! Thanks.

P.S I can't use a mercury vapour lamp since the electrics in my house are faulty and I don't want an blown mercury vapour bulb. It could be dangerous to me and the tortoise.

I would use the tube Florescent UVB and a CHE or two, depending on the enclosure, where your located and the temps in your home.

Get a surge protected extension. I've had to put mine on surge protected after a normal spot bulb cracked. My 3 year old Hermanns has a 25w UV strip bulb, an 80w MVB and a 40w spot. So a nice range of options. He is in a large tortoise table. When he was in his older enclosure I just had the MVB and a 7w strip light to just provide light for him.

What size of enclosure are you getting/ have got?
