so i got a half log hide for my Russian tortoise and it is growing small bits of orange mold, so ofcorse i got rid of it, this half log hide cost me £15 so not to cheap but not to expensive but know one wants to throw away £15 do they?

how can i prevent this mold growing?
P.S it was only about 58% humidity in the hide when the mold grew.

Thanks guys,
Harry

I only ever had issues with mold when I had live plants growing in my enclosures.. You could coat the inside with vinegar. But let it dry so its not super smelly. Vinegar will kill almost all plant life and is organic and safe for torts. I use it to clean my torts cages as well as their food bowls and use it as a weed killer outside.
