Hi I have an idea for people who are stuck for what to put in the cage, I tend to actually have a look for stuff in small pet area of the shops I find the reptile bit can be a bit boring.

Hello and Welcome:)
Is that enclosure for two adult Russians? Is looks way too small and the substrate is either card board or sand, which neither is very good. Sand causes impaction and cardboard, well they can not burrow into it and doesn't give the best traction. Please read through some of the Russian threads for housing. I like the things you are using for hides though. Also is there a water bowl, if not they need water available 24/7. Some changes would do them a lot of good.

Hi Cha98, and welcome to the Forum!!

That would be a very good idea if you have a cat that likes to get in the tortoise habitat. Also it would be impossible for a Houdini-type tortoise to get out of. I like it, with a couple of exceptions. Most baby tortoises need a humid environment and the open cage would make it hard to keep the humidity up, but you can solve that problem by making the hiding places (I really like the tubing idea) humid hiding places.

The other thing is, I don't know how deep the bottom is, but tortoises, especially Russian tortoises, really like to dig in the substrate. So a substrate of 3 or 4" should be allowed.

I like that you're thinking outside the box. Can we see a picture with your tortoise inside the habitat?
