Tortoise enclosure advice needed

My Hermann's tortoise needs a new indoor enclosure. I need advice on what type of wood to avoid, size and waterproofing.

I'm planning on sealing the enclosure with aquarium silicon and tarp. The silicone should be safe to use as I use it with all my reptiles and amphibians.

If you have a baby then you need a closed chamber to retain the heat and humidity. Search the enclosures forum and you will see plenty of examples, for example the one in this thread

An older tortoise should be fine in an open table.

Size needs to be as big as possible. Once no longer a baby you are aiming for 4'x8' minimum (1.5x2.2m)

Timber suitable to use in your home will be suitable to use in the enclosure as there won't be any fumes that can harm you or your tort. Due to the necessary damp substrate, most people line the enclosure with heavy duty plastic such as pond liner to prevent rotting and mould.

The easist thing for a tortoise table if you don't have the tools, time, and/or skill is goto some thrift store and buy a large size bookshelf and grab a hammer and bang all the shelves out and lay it on the back. If the bookshelf isn't big enough then just connect 2 or however more you need. Good Luck .
