I'll be out of town from Friday morning until Sunday evening. I feel like it is a short enough time to leave my four month leopard tort alone but I'm worried about food and water. Won't the greens dry out and become bad?? What if the water dries up before I come home? Also I will put the lights on a timer and get a camera to make sure he hasn't flipped over or anything like that. Let me know what you guys would do for food and hydration!

Hello. Do you have anyone whom you can trust to take care of your tortoise while you are absent?

If you guys said I would need someone then yes I may have someone who can do it, but is it necessary for her to give Scooter a soak? I don't want to take too much of her time up because I don't think she'll accept any payment. (Also I'm a little worried of other people holding him, I don't want him to get dropped. I'm so protective 😂) Could I just have her give him greens and make sure his water is full? Scooter does get in and soak/drink water himself almost everyday if that makes a difference.

Well, I wouldn't want anyone to pick up or soak my tortoises. But! I would feel better if someone would put fresh food every morning in their plates and add water if needed. Also, I would feel better knowing that if my tort flips then someone would help her. But it's just me😄 I am very anxious about leaving my tortoises 🙃.

You may even remove the water bowl: soiled two-days old water is worse than no water at all. But you can leave a whole cactus pad for him - it's a good source of nutrients and hydration and doesn't wilt in two days.

Just in case, two-three days without food are fine - he won't be starving. Their metabolism is far slower than ours.
