I am working on my outside hide and I purchased a Zilla Thermostat. It says on the package not to install in terrarium. Is it because of humidity or getting wet or is it because it may read the wrong temperature? I was looking at the way people here seem to put it in a plastic box but with the holes in it I am sure the humidity would get to it anyway. is it ok to just put it on the back wall? Sorry for all the questions but I never used one before. Thanks

I use mine inside, outside, underground, on the wall, in the enclosure. Been using them with humidity for years and have not had a problem yet. Your milage may vary.

Thanks that puts my mind at ease. If I don't put it in a shoe box would that be a problem?

No, not at all. ZOO Med have really good stuff, and the gauge should read the humidity just fine anywhere.
