Swordtail

I have a small swordtail recently moved from a 2.5 gallon tank to a 10 gallon. He's been in it for a couple of weeks now, the temp is fine the PH is good the nitrites are low, yet he lays on the bottom most of the time. I am using a small but powerful Duetto filterIMG_4569.JPG IMG_4560.JPG , could there be too much current? Or what? Any ideas?

Possibly. A ten gallon is small for any kind of strong current. The fish really can't get away from it. Can you put something like a rock in front to redirect the current into two currents or place further to the top of the tank, so the fish can swim in the middle without always fighting it. I'm not that familiar with freshwater fish, I do mostly marine, until just recently, but some fish really likes strong currents, some do not and can't really handle them

They go deep to get to the warm water. I'm thinking your aquarium is too cool for the fish.
