You can try clips like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074CG2W4J/?tag=exoticpetnetw-20

Usually grommets in shade cloth are installed in the taped edges.
Nice.
I haven't seen those.
I use shade cloth over my two back yard fish ponds to stop the algea. I've been using the rings. But also running zip ties through the shade fabric holes.
Between the weather and the friggin neighborhood cats, I usually get about 6 9 months out of them.

I have mine connected with bungee cords, which seems to help prevent the grommets from tearing out of the fabric

I have mine attached with narrow strips of bathing suit fabric ties. I've been making bathing suits for my grand and great-grand daughters for over 25 years, so I always have leftover pieces I can cut up, I've also found that adding more grommets between the ones that the tarps come with helps them to live longer. I have some that are over 10 years old and still in usable shape. With the super strong winds we've been having this year, my tarps held well, but the steel pipes bent, so this winter we'll be replacing those with some that have a larger diameter. They are 10 ft tall so the roof would not hit the shage cloth when the tops of their houses were open, and the pipes bent into the area by at least two feet. If you use bathing suit fabric, make sure you cut the strips tp get the most stretch in the length.
I've also found that they will last the whole season, unlike the zip ties that deteriorate from the sun.

Where would you get that kind of fabric?
The shade cloth I get is from home Depot and you cut to size so it doesn't have grommets. Ive installed a few different grommets but they all eventually pull through the fabric.

The best price I've found for bathing suit/action wear fabric is from Etsy. But for all of these years I've gotten it from JoAnn's, in store or on-line. I'm not sure who I bought it from, but my last shadecloth that I bought on-line is fence cloth, so it's 50' by 6" and you can cut it in lengths if needed. It seems to be more sturdy than HDs shade cloth, and has grommets on all 4 sides. Many years ago, a friend had given us one that they'd had, and I've put it up every spring since then, at least 15 years and it's still usable. The grommets have never pulled out, but there are a couple of spots where the fabric has started to fray. As a matter of fact, that's the fabric that held in our gale force winds, but the steel pipes bent! I use a crochet hook to pull the bathing suit strips through the fabric so I can attach the shade to the cross pipes, and let the end hang down the back.

Thanks a lot for suggesting those clips. They are excellent for the roof sunshade cloth on the roof of my car. I've been looking for better ways to fix it all over the Internet, and I have definitely not expected to find the solution on a tortoise forum.
I just needed to cover my offroad car's open top with a thick sunshade protection cloth, and I wanted to find a way to do that without running the cloth too much. I need to keep my car protected from the sun as well as possible because I plan a trip to the mountains with my family and need to keep everyone protected from the sun's rays.
