dude there is some major problems with his enclosure. 1. sand can cause impaction in the tortoises intestines if he eats to much sand. 2. he needs 80%+ humidity or else his shell will start to pyramid. 3. he needs substrate that can hold humidity and that he can stand on.

You're definitely going to hear the above advice over and over. Humidity is so important to the shell growth. He is very cute. Great color. He is starting to pyramid. Please get him better substrate. Coco Coir is highly recommended. Organic potting soil or orchids bark is also common.

Have you had time yet to read the pinned threads at the top of our sulcata section? There's some very good informational reading for you there...new and cutting edge info.
