My sulcata tortoise got bit by my fiance ' s sisters dog. We have contacted vets, but they can not see her till Monday. With today being Saturday that is obviously not soon enough. We have moved her to a clean dry enclosure and have doctored her wounds with providone iodine. There does not seem to be any bubbling or air movement where the bites are. The wounds do not appear to go through the shell. Is there anything else we need to be doing till we can see a vet?

Without at least seeing pictures of the wounds, it is difficult to make any sort of recommendation.

The dog jumped into her home. We have big dogs that can't get to her, but the sisters little dog obviously could. Luckily we found a vet and the wounds are only superficial. We will be doing antibiotic injections and topical ointments.

Tortoise never mixed with dog.....Thank God she is back to herself but I will still suggest to take her to the vet tomorrow just to make sure.

The damage is actually not that bad(our ecology preserve gets some real bad ones in) the vet was really not necessary, as long as you keep flies our of the wound Neosporin or what ever antibiotic the vet gave is fine to put on. The shell will heal with some mild scarring. Do keep the dog away though.
