I keep mine in a custom built enclosure that is 5 by 4 feet and I use a mixture of organic potting soil and playsand I moisten one side and that's where he digs his burrow that is so big I can fit a basketball into lol he digs like a sully and suggestions on what I should use or is this ok.

Sounds okay. However, why ever you do switch out the substrate, don't use any more sand. Sand can cause impaction. Now for using sand, make sure it is only about 20% .

Yeah, sand is just a bad thing to use. I use coco coir only. But, this is just my advice/opinion. Best of luck.

Bad *** on the size of the enclosure! But i too would suggest to remove the sand. For my outdoor, I use Topsoils =)
