where can i get play sand and top soil that's safe for my greek tort Kratos. me and a friend are going to be building him his first table so i want to get the right stuff.
i wouldnt use sand. if they digest it is bad... i mean real bad.... my opinion, just don't use it. but to each its own. if its for an indoor table, i would prefer coco husk/coir with a mix of barks. i also love using topsoil. soooo cheap and so abundant =) but my hatchlings love the husk more....
I use top soil and peat moss, 50/50 by volume. Holds moisture well and passes easily if ingested. And trust me, the substrate will get ingested. Once a month or more often, I will fluff it to help the peat moss from drying out and repelling the moisture. Spot clean as needed and your good to go.
And you can plant right in this substrate. What you plant won't likely last long, but the theory and principle is still sound. Lol.
