I just use fake plants. My box turtles hide in and under them. They work great!! :)

Pet stores have them.....I get the plants for fish tanks sometimes. You can also order them on line. I just typed in reptile plants and tons came up!! Big and small ones. You could try them and see if he tries to eat them. My box turtles dont try to eat them.....hopefully your guy wont. Sometimes I find them in Wallmart in the pet section.

Basking temp is a bit to high. Do you have UVA and UVB rays, or sunlight in a secure outdoor enclosure?

I dont understand? I gave my sulcata all this space for h to live in, and all he does is walk around the edges basically clawing and climbing on the tarp???

If he is never under the heat lamp, it may be way too hot, causing him to run to the perimeter to escape the excessive heat. Try raising the lamp. That may settle him down. I see the same behavior wit baby chicks and ducklings.

I use fake plants indoors, too. I buy them from the 99cents store and Dollar Tree. Cheap, look nice and don't die.
I have never had my tortoises try to eat them. The fake plants look real to us but don't look like real food to them, so don't worry.

You can buy plants in the pots and put the whole potted plant in the enclosure. Your tort won't be able to reach the plants to eat it so the 1 year waiting rule won't apply.
If you'd feel more comfortable you can transplant the plant into a new pot with new clean soil then put that pot in there. Tort still can't reach the plant but any water run off will be safe.

amazon.com has some terrarium plant kits, they are plants grown with no fertilizers and such that are shipped to you ready to be planted.

If you leave the Redfoot named Rafael, How about Leonardo or Donatello for the sulcata to keep with the TMNT theme?
But give them a name you like, they sure don't care what they are called :p

Your temp is fine. 100F is fine so is 105F, since its a large open space, the tort can walk far away from it if it chooses to. Don't place anything under the basking spot he could flip over on

Yup. Especially if your humidity is 80% and 90% the higher basking temp is better.
