snapping turtle lights?

I was wondering if snapping turtles needed basking lights or not. getting the light won't be a problem if the do need it... if not well nothing really changes, btw I just got a snapper yesterday and he is in a holding tank for the day...

All turtles/tortoises may appreciate a basking spot. Snappers seem to be one of the more aquatic turtles that will bask occasionally. Outdoors, mine has a large piece of oak driftwood to climb out to bask on. I catch him using it every couple weeks. I would recommend having one. Just make it natural, a slanted piece of driftwood coming out of the water, and they will be more likely to use it.

Yes, it is always good to have a basking area for a turtle so they can use if they want to.
