Benny has slowed right down the last couple weeks. I think because of being confined indoors or maybe brumating, but either way I enjoy seeing him going to eat every other day or so and thought I would share

He is beautiful...but I must point out something because, well, I can not stop myself :D...that decorative feature (house with the pebbles and colored stones) that is in the enclosure is very dangerous..the house itself is not an issue, but the tray it is on is full of edible size pebbles and food colored smooth rocks that can also be ingested...I would remove that feature all together (not the house) due to if the tort eats a large enough amount of rocks and colored pebbles he will become impacted and that is a very dangerous situation...

This species ideally does not brumate..so a brumation like slow down should not be the situation....what temps are you keeping and what is his uva/uvb exposure? How long do you leave the day lights on? What is the heating source for night hours?

Thanks for the advice on the pebbles. Good point I hadn't thought of.
We are in a bit of a dilemma trying to repair the terrarium. Has been ongoing for weeks, keeps splitting (but that's another topic)
His daytime temp in the hot end is anywhere from 110-98 depending on if he is basking or in the ambient heat. The cool end is 82-89 usually, but depends on temps in the house.
He has a 150 watt basking light with full UVA/UVB as well as a tiny fan that circulates the air. At night I use a CHE on a thermo sensor and it keeps him a toasty 86 all night
He's also being raised using Toms wet method.

And never apologize for trying to help on here. Tats why we are all here. To learn and raise our shell babies to the best of our abilities
