Hello. We just brought our new tortoise home and noticed a growth on his cheek. He's been rubbing a bit with his arm but I'm concerned about it. Anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated.

Quick update, it seems to be drying out and ready to fall off.

I won't pick it, but am watching it. Consensus online seems to be to let nature run it's course.

Does it seem to be over the area where the ear is? Hard to tell from the angle of the picture.

It may have been a bit of a sliver from the substrate. I'm of the 'pick' school. If it were my tortoise, I would gather up all my first aid supplies and pick off the scab. If there's a sliver in there then you can pull it out. If it was just some sort of injury, then you can apply first aid. It might even have been an abscess, in which case you can depress the sides and try to get all the pus out.

Good luck, and please keep us informed. We all learn from posts like this.
