When he is in his outdoor hide like that I don't move quickly because it freaks him out...so I just tickle his foot a moment until his good right eye opens and he kinda sees me..then I will rub his shell in a big circular motion until he stretches and then I will either do what I came to do or pick him up, which ever I am there for....
