How much sleep is normal for an adult Russian? I'm a new tortoise owner, and he has been sleeping in his hide from about 6pm to about 8am, and then sleeps and/ or basks off and on in other areas throughout the day. Just wondering how much I should expect him to sleep.

My russian who is fit as a fiddle will get up when his lights go on, eat, wonder about and sleep most of the day, with intermittent periods of waking up and wondering around, however they take time to adjust so I wouldent think it's unusual for them to sleep lots when you first get them
