We recieved a rescue turtle about 10 months ago. His shell had been damaged and had some white discoloration. The reptile store told us everything looked normal. The white spots have spread andbhe also has some dark green algae(?).
Are these discoloration normal? Nothing is soft and there is no puss or oozing around his shell.

That does not look normal to me at all either shell rot or more like a fungus. @Anthony P could help you better.

I don't know about the white areas but the green stuff looks like pond algae. I've seen that on a wild snapper before. Is it wild caught? I'm sure someone will come along who knows more about turtles. Perhaps @Yvonne G knows someone.

Even captive turtles can grow algae. A soft toothbrush and water will remove it. Not sure about that white stuff

Soft tooth brush and a BLEACH water mix would kill the algae. Use that on our brick walls outside. Just work fast and rinse the turtle shell real well when done.
