It's not live, just very green. It's the "natural terrarium moss" from Petco. I love it! It's green and pretty and I could kinda break it up into chunks and lay it down like carpet. I've tried this and the Mosser Lee's brand and I liked this much better...1 box is about $8.00 and that was enough for everything in that photo.

Here are my three babies that were born in June and July of this year. The little one on top is Minnie. Her egg was half the size of a normal Russian egg. When she was born she was the tinest Russian hatchling I have ever seen.

Funny thing is, he has another cuttle bone in his enclosure, but of course, the newer, bigger, fresher, shinier one is always better [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE] so as soon as I put it down, he went to town on it.
