I would like to add some substrate to our outdoor tortoise garden (Herman tortoise) The soil is a little clay like at the moment and wondered if anyone could suggest something safe that I could add to make it more tortoise friendly?

I would dig in some sand and incorporate it well together with the clay. You can also dig in some leaf litter to lighten it up a bit.

Thank you Yvonne, are there any particular leaves to avoid. I've also heard that coconut coir is supposed to be good and found some coconut litter on Amazon. What are your thoughts on trying this too?
