Hello! I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a rough estimate or my russian, I've had him for almost 4 month and he hasn't gotten much bigger since I got him? Not sure if the pictures will help, it's not really important and I was just curious☺ImageUploadedByTortoiseForum1366858842.679152.jpgImageUploadedByTortoiseForum1366858864.039190.jpgImageUploadedByTortoiseForum1366858879.338182.jpgImageUploadedByTortoiseForum1366858937.969404.jpgImageUploadedByTortoiseForum1366858964.436418.jpg

Rough estimate?

Who knows. I would guess 10-20 years old. But that's just cuz the shell still shows the growth rings usually older tortoises get smoother as they age

RE: Rough estimate?

As tortoises get older their growth rate slows but doesn't completely stop.

If that's sand for your substrate, I would suggest changing to coco coir or top soil to prevent intestinal blockage.

Rough estimate?

He is about 4.2 inches I just took some pictures. As for the sand the pictures are a few weeks old his whole indoor enclosure is now topsoil (trying to grow some grass and veggies in there for him lol). I got rid if it I don't like it at all haha. But thank you! ImageUploadedByTortoiseForum1366865764.249566.jpgImageUploadedByTortoiseForum1366865782.426422.jpg

Rough estimate?

I'd say maybe four or five, you can't go by growth rings because sll tortoises grow at different rates.

RE: Rough estimate?

He looks to be almost full grown. I would estimate 15 to 20 years old.
