Just to be sure you read @wellington comment correctly, your tortoise should be in an enclosure that is at least 4ft x 8ft. Yours looks possibly 4ft x 4ft at most, judging by the size of the water dish. Please consider upgrading the enclosure. If a tortoise has adequate room to walk around and explore, you should never have to trim their nails. Extra room to walk also aids in digestion. If your tortoise isn’t warm enough or isn’t able to digest properly, he won’t be very motivated to eat. A larger space will drastically improve his quality of life. For his beak, try feeding on a piece of slate and it’ll help naturally wear it down going forward. Also try putting cuttlebone in his enclosure. He will get an extra boost of calcium if he needs it, and it is awesome for naturally shaving down a tortoise beak. 🙂

Don’t worry, it must’ve been the angle but I did measure it to be of size. He’s always been active and walking around. Not eating is a new thing for him. We tried a cuttlebone for months but he never had any interest. He has calcium powder that we had to his meals.

Emilyreid218, thank you for your patience and attention in trying to follow the advice and help given by the experienced tortoise people here. I can just add that there is a reason that at first, the response to your input and questions may sound "harsh". Think about this: a person comes here for help, often in an emergency situation and wanting an instant solution, and they are worried and upset. That is one side of the event. The other side is the experts here who are willing and able to help, but in order to be accurate in their assessment of the problem, they have got to have certain vital information right away, and so they may sound "harsh" to the person who wants immediate help. The experts here need to know and see some things that may seem irrelevant, but all these details and pictures will ensure that the most important advice will be forthcoming as quickly as possible! This is a terrific tortoise forum and you would not ever regret staying here and taking the time to respond positively to the advice that is given. Stay with us, please.
