Im wondering if anyone can help with links or best place to go.

Im essentially looking for a rectangular styled hide with a decent sized doorway for my growing tort. I currently have a corner hide but hes favoured a certain corner to the point he knocks himself over in it.

If it helps im UK based so any good stores that have anything as ive mentioned. Ive looked at personalised ones but they're very expensive when I know he'll outgrow it in a year or possibly months!

Is this for your Greek tortoise?🙂

I definitely hear you on the expense front! We had a nightmare trying to find a nice looking hide big enough, you kind of have to get creative, a lot make their own. Your Greek will be smaller than our red foot though, so lots of options.

Have you considered simply getting an opaque tub, turning it upside down and cutting an entrance hole? That works pretty well and is nice and roomy🐢💚

It is for my lil Greek tortoise!

Hes grown a lot in the 4 months ive got him and bought him two made hides already but there's nothing bigger and in a rectangle shape im after 😅

Hes roughly about 17cms wide and long (if i measured his length correctly 😅)

The hide is mainly for the afternoon as noticed hell go in there for a nap but then will sleep out in the open with a little corner he likes to dig.

Im going to look out in shops tomorrow see if I can find one that seems easy enough to cut and hopefully that'll work!! 🐢

This one would definitely be big enough for him and probably last him for life, quite expensive but we’ve personally liked them. Just not sure if it’s the shape you’re after

If not hopefully you’ll fine a container the size you’re after🐢💚

I use black dishwashing tubs. As she said, flip it over and cut a door hole big enough for your tortoise. I then "shimmy" it down into the substrate a little bit to seat it and somewhat bury the edges. I also wet the substrate under mine to keep it more humid inside.

Are they quite easy to cut with a normal pair of scissors? If so I may just have to give that ago!

I use heavy duty scissors. I don't know if I'd call it easy, but it's doable. There are many ways to get it done. I've use blades, hole saws, tin snips, and hack saws. I find a sturdy pair of scissors to be the easiest way.
