I am planning on getting a baby Russian tort in October and had a question about the enclosure. It's going to be temporary of course.

I have a 40 gallon breeder tank that I have. Would that be ok for temporarily holding a baby Russian? I was thinking of building a "second story" on one end for a basking area and hide underneath.

Also if anyone has any links to what plants I can use in the tank, and any general info on the enclosure that would be great!

I also keep hearing things about a certain water dish. I can't seem to recall what it is called though.

Thanks guys!! I just want to be the best tort mom I can for the little one

My little Greek lives in a 40 gallon tank, it is a fine temporary home. The kind of water dish you are thinking of it probably a ceramic plant dish, like this;
