I had one several years ago come through the Rescue here. I kept him for a while. The research at that time told me they had to be kept warm in the winter, and I didn't have room to set up another indoor habitat, so I adopted him out. He was pretty neat and made me wish I could afford to get a breeding group together.

As long as you know how to properly care for Asian Forest Turtles, they are just about bullet proof........

Yes, Eric- I saw those ads! Since this will be my first turtle, I only want to start with one. Once I've gained a little more confidence in my husbandry skills I may get more and breed them, but I don't want to get ahead if myself. I'm currently planning on getting one in the Spring, because we have 2 trees to take out and a rats' nest to locate and remove before I can start the enclosure. :)

That is a cool looking turtle. Looks like it is made out of wood.

Be sure to let us know when you get one and post some pics. Interesting species.

I had a small group of these guys in the late 80's / early 90's. They are awesome! You will not be dissapointed.
