I have read a lot of posts about pyramiding and possible causes of this, but I still dont quite understand what it means. Is it when their shells grow in a way where it is bumpy rather than smooth?

Yes. Each scute grow upward and forms a pyramid shape, instead of growing relatively flat and resembling more of a ball shape. If all else is good, it is really only cosmetic in most cases, but its an indicator of how the tortoise was started or raised.

Thanks for the response, Tom. I am soaking my tort once everyday and spraying his shell 3-4 times daily as per some of the posts I have read.
