Welcome. I grew up outside of Ft Wayne IN doing the same thing. Spent my youth in creeks and gravel pits. Never met a rock or board I didn't try and look under to see what creatures I could find.
When I decided to get back into tortoises I found this forum. Thought at the time I was pretty knowledgable having reduced Sulcata in the past and kept all manner of reptiles.

Low & behold , while I was busy doing other things hobbyists learned new better techniques for tortoise keeping and health.

I found much of what I thought I knew was superceeded by better info.

I didn't see what kind of torts you keep ?

Alaskamike, I currently have a rescue sully that was not taken care of properly, two baby Sullys and 1.1 Russians. Not to mention a horse, an Italian mastiff, a black lab, and a yorkiepoo (formally known as satan)
