Hi my daughter owns what I believe is a Russian tortoise. She has always been happy and active and eaten a lot. We have the lights set up but she has not eaten in 5 days and hasn't moved from one corner. What should we do?

When's the last time she was soaked?

What the temperature in her enclosure?

Hi JSouth:

Welcome to the forum!!

Maybe a visit to a tortoise vet would be in order. Its not normal for a little Russian tortoise to not eat.

What are your temperatures? They have to be warm to eat and move around.

Welcome to the forum :)
Do you have any pics of the enclosure or of your little one (we love pics :) )
As Yvonne said, maybe a visit to a reptile vet is in order.
Good luck and please keep updated!

Welcome to the group! Please provide as much information as you can about how old the tort is, how long you've had it, what the temperatures currently are (measured today, not last week, with an accurate thermometer), do you have a UVB bulb, what do you feed, have there been any care changes lately, etc. Agreed that unless its a simple fix like it isn't warm enough, you need to go to an experienced tort vet now. Take a look at the list of vets on our home page for a starting point. Ask the vet to do an exam, and take in a fecal sample for a parasite test. There is nothing wrong with picking up the tort and placing it in front of the food 1-2 times a day, or in a hide near the basking spot (but not right under the basking spot, which should be about 95 F). Spring mix can be enticing for a tort if you don't feed that already, especially the radicchio in it (no spinach). Best wishes for the tort to be active soon.
