Over wintering

Hi my Herman's tortoise is not hibernating but he is sleeping a lot even basking under his heat light he's sleeping. He eats his food when awake but Im wondering is it going to do more harm than good in the long run for his organs as when hibernating you stop feeding. Any advice welcome thanks

We stop feeding in order to clear out the digestive tract because food left in there when the tortoise is cold will rot.

It sounds like your tortoise isn't cold, so the food is fine.
