Percy is 9.5 inches long, 6.5 inches wide and weighs 5lbs.

Is this within normal weight?

If he feels like a heavy rock when you hold him, he's alright...every tortoise grows at his own rate , just like people are all different.

My tort is quite fat too. When he sticks his head into his shell, fat folds up. I am putting him on a tortoise diet of just hay and limited portions for now. We will see how that goes. Kame is 3-8 months old and weighs 3oz and 8 grams. Here's a pic. :(

I have 2 Sulcatas that both will be 4 years old in May. Cheech weighs in at 5lbs and is 9" SCL and Chong weighs in at 2.5lbs and is only 6" SCL. They live together and both get the same food and actually Chong is the pig when it comes to eating. As you can see, torts grow at different rates so there's no telling what should be normal. Even though Cheech is 5lbs, I still think he's small for his age.
