i am researching before purchasing a new sulcata tort. Is there anything in particular that I need to look at before and while purchasing the tort?

Hello and Welcome. Be sure to read our caresheet. Ask the breeder how the tort was started. If it was started with high humidity and daily soaks. If they were kept without humidity, move on to the next breeder.

I think I got it all planned out. I am working on the table and then expanding my pole barn another 40 feet for the winter time when he will go outside. I am open to any unexpected things I will come across and pointers/advice for when the time comes.

Hello Mike,

if you plan to buy a baby sulcata, build a closed chamber for him or her. A closed chamber is much better than a tortoise table to hold warmth and humidity in.
Baby sulcatas need high humidity and high warmth to stay healthy and to grow smooth ( the shell ).
