new tort owner and noticed when Fred eats he gets some of the food in his nose, he then sounds like he is blowing air out of his nose, then rubs his nose to get off food. here is my question : should I put him in for a soak after he eats or wash his face? or let him take care of hygiene himself after he eats?

Haha, lots of torts I see on here has Mazuri nostrils. If he can take care of it himself, then let him. If after sometime he can't, then it would wipe his face. After all, they would have to clean themselves in the wild, so at least give him a chance to do what he would naturally before stepping in. That's my opinion and what I would do.

if it's just greens that get stuck i usually leave in until the next bath (unless it's really bad) but with mazuri i always wash it off because i notice it dries into a substance like glue and it attracts flies. if i leave it, until the morning it's all crusty and i bet it's really annoying and might hurt.
