Got one freshly imported big WC female that for some reason will not eat. I have been soaking her everyday and she apears completely healthy other than not moving around much. I have her seperated from the others and put fresh food in front of her everyday with no luck. I have seen her drink when soaking. Tried greens and fruit with no luck

Question...how long would you let her not eat before making a vet visit? Is it normal to get a stuborn WC tortoise that refuses to eat and it just might take some time? It has been well over a week so far

personally I don't understand the WC
everyone will say, what is the temp/humidity/light/food
and then they might say, she's imported and ask how long ago, and say give her time in her new surroundings. Some would say disturbing her to soak could be upsetting too, so....let's see who shows up. I just have the one girl so can't say much except look around the other chat threads, lots of info there

It might just be the stress of being in a new environment. But it might be that she's loaded with parasites. Take a stool sample to the vet to check.

Its been a while but my thoughts would be,
Soak the tort 1 time in warm water with some "AVITRON" liquid bird vitamins in it.
About 1 tsp. per gal.
Put the tort in a proper (not too big) enclosure (temperature, humidity, hide, LARGE water pan, lighting) outside preferably. Unless you live in a warm climate you need to make sure you cover all the above details in an indoor pen.
Then the most important part, Leave the thing alone. Don't pick it up! Don't soak it, Don't do anything! If it has not walked over on its own in a week to get a drink, Soak it.
As for food, Offer some papaya, melon, mango or strawberries. Not a lot but enough for the smell to get around the pen. It should only take a few days.
as long as your humidity is high, it won't dehydrate too fast.
Also it wont starve in a few weeks unless it was almost dead when you bought it.
PM me with the importer ( I may know them & have some insight as to how long they have had it & how it was kept) & your location.
1 last thing. Check the eyes, nose & vent for any discharge & let me know.

I got two WC adult yellow foots in today. They both ate straight out of the box. The importer had them for two weeks before tonight. Every red foot will react differently to a new environment. Follow t_mclellan's advice, he took the words right out of my mouth. It will eventually eat unless it's sick. Let's hope not. Good luck!
