Hi, I am from South Dakota and VERY interested in getting a Sulcata Tortoise. I would like to introduce myself so here I go. I have a Veiled Chameleon, 4 Red Eared Slider Turtles, 1 Western Painted Turtle, and 1 Pearl River Map Turtle. So any tips on tortoises and my choice of tortoises? I am planning on getting the correct needs for the tortoise that I choose and buy from a breeder. :)
by the way my name is Zac
Thanks!:D

Hello and welcome Zac. Sulcatas are my favorite species, but they aren't a good pet for everybody. Just do lots of research into their long term size and needs before you decide.

I plan on doing TONS of research! i dislike jumping into things blindfolded! lol! I realize they can get HUGE but the size doesn't bother me lol I like how long they live too!

welcome Zac..
What are your winters like up there? That would be One of your greatest concerns with a sulcata. They need to be outside, and they dont hibernate. So you need to be able to provide a warm enclosure for them. And large. and Long term! :)
