I got a baby at a show today.
he was very active with all his bros and sisters.
now he is here and wont come out of his shell.
is this normal for them to be so shy? i am very worried.

he is cute though. he is on a 50/50 mix.

Your new tort is so cute. I can remember when mine was that small, they grow up so fast. :) Bowser was shy at first also, but eventually he got friendlier. Just take your time and that will help.

The snake is really pretty. I wish that I could get one :)

He's probably used to being housed with many siblings. Don't forget that baby tortoises are prey and are pretty scared when taken out of their comfort zone. Be sure he has a really safe-feeling habitat with lots of hiding places. Be sure he's warm enough. Try to let him be a tortoise for the first week or so, and don't handle him too much. Let him get used to his new digs for a bit, then you can let him see that you are the food god. He should warm up to you pretty fast when he makes that observation.

Sam: I don't know if you mean Carolina Pet Supply? That would be
carolinapetsupply.com/ Or if you mean Oxbow? That would be Oxbow.com/

Are those the sites you meant?

I'm happy to hear that your little one is active now!

I really want a snake, but my husband doesn't like them too much :( I guess I'll have to find some other critter to take care of :)
