I live in San Diego n want to get a red foot tortoise is it a good place to raise the tortoise? I also want to know if it's ok if my enclosure for a hatchling is 8' by 4'? I want to know if it's ok or should I start him on a smaller enclosure?

I do not live in CA but if you take the time to set up the enclosure the right way then you will be all set I would go small for starters 4x8 will be nice when he gets bigger

But do u think it will hurt the tortoise if I put him in a big enclosure ?

No not at all when I got my hatchlings I had them in a 3'x4' as I was building a bigger one and they were all over it when I move them in the bigger one they did not explore as much stayed in one half of it so I moved they back to the smaller one they seemed to like the smller one better now I have more and they are all in the big one and use the whole thing

If I get two tortoise would it b ok to have two adult tortoise in a 4x8?

For two adults,I would go a little bigger,at least 6X12,if I were doing it.
