Hi

Greetings from Gloucester, England!

We're about to acquire a 12 year old tested graeca, and we're busy setting up his new home.

I've already started a thread on the Enclosures | Lighting sub forum, as I have a question about whether the polycarbonate diffuser on a weatherproof fluorescent tube enclosure would negate the tube's UVB output.

I'm sure that we'll have more questions in the weeks to come, so we're looking forward to getting to know you.

All the best
Paul

Hello and welcome from Kent UK

You will find these threads useful reading. They're written by species experts working hard to correct the outdated information widely available on the internet and, sadly, perpetuated by some breeders and vets too.

Hi Paul and a big welcome from me is S Wales!
There's lots of good and - more importantly - up to date information here.
So read search and ask as many questions as you need you'll soon be pointed in the right direction.
Pictures are great to help get the correct advice and make sure your set up is as safe and tort friendly as possible.
Just make sure you avoid coiled or long thin loop cfl type bulbs as these can damage torts eyes and terracotta plant saucers are safer and cheaper than fancy pet shop dishes, but there's lots more to learn!!
