Just got a package from Underground Reptiles, with my latest female Eastern Hermanns in it.

Suggestions for names? Poll has a few I'm considering, but feel free to offer up others.

I was going to suggest Cadence or Kaydence. It would let me vote other, but not give a name suggestion.

Let's go Odelia!

Actually, I meant to put it as "Ophelia"... oooooops 4 my clumsy fingers!

Guess all the names that get votes will be saved for future females, as I plan to eventually have several female Hermann's tortoises in my herd.

Wonder how many females a male can "service" before I have to get him a prescription for Cialis... ;)

From one addict to another: Choice "B" is the way to go (find another female ASAP)!

My wife just now rolled her eyes muttering something about "enablers"... :p

Actually, I spoke w/ Underground Reptiles yesterday, telling them how pleased I was w/ this new one, and to please let me know when they got in some more young adult (4-5") females...this was the only one they had, as of Monday...lots of males, though (which is currently the case at many places).

Last fall, when I started to looking seriously, there were so many dealers, w/ a glut of males, that one told me that if I was interested, he'd sell me 10 @ $35 per and cover the shipping. May go for that offer come about November, if he still has that many by then, as I'm pretty sure I could move 9 males as X-mas pets, make a reasonable profit and still keep the best one as my stud, judging from how many folks asked me where they could get their own Hermann's after seeing Jennifer eat treats from my fingers at educational programs one of the local reptile clubs have.

You need a herd of Hermann's torts, Tom...the sulcatas are good practice for experiencing a friendly and massively personable tortoise, but w/ Testudo hermanni ssp. you can avoid the hernia possibilities... :p
