Hello. My "Chaco Tortoise" have never laid eggs. She is 30 y.o. The vet. says that they are not mature until that age. But I've read differently. Should I be worried. We've been together for 28 years.
Thank you for the opportunity to share and please excuse my poor English.

A late reply is better than no reply:

My female chaco started laying eggs when she was about 18-20 y.o.
She was digging nests for about 1-2 years and laid two deformed eggs before she had normal and healthy eggs. This is quite common with tortoises as I understand.

The tortoise will not start nesting unless the substrate is optimal. My experience was that I needed a 50/50 mix of fine sand and bark, 25-35 cm deep for her to start digging and laying eggs. My chaco wants to be digging herself down to a 80% angle before she lays the eggs and cover them up.

Are you sure you got a female? Long or short tail?
