Looks like nesting behavior to me. She may be "testing" the soil to find a suitable spot. I would keep an eye on her for the next week or so to see if she digs a complete nest and finishes the process one day. It's an overcast day.I don't know if this little girl dug a nest or if she's just digging, but she fell asleep after. There's a barrier a little further down so I'm not sure.
I thought so. She came back to the same spot two days in a row. I'll excavate a bit and check it out.Looks like nesting behavior to me. She may be "testing" the soil to find a suitable spot. Be careful when excavating the area in case she has already deposited some eggs.I thought so. She came back to the same spot two days in a row. I'll excavate a bit and check it out.
There are males and females. I have a group. And I excavate eggs every year, but this would be my first russian clutch.Be careful when excavating the area in case she has already deposited some eggs.
I am wondering if her eggs could be fertile or not. Do you have a male? Or was your female a recent acquisition who may have been with a male in the past few months?
OK, just wanted to make sure you had the possibility of getting fertile eggs. There are males and females. I have a group. And I excavate eggs every year, but this would be my first russian clutch.

Good luck with the Russian Tortoise eggs if/when they materialize!
