So sorry for the loss :( I'm glad she lived the rest of her life with someone that cared.

Right now, you need time to recover from your loss. She isn't suffering anymore, and that is some comfort. It will take time, but time is a great healer of events. I will certainly take your advise on keeping my babies safe. My lil guy, Beasty Boy, is suffering with a golf-size stone in his bladder. He's on antibiotics now, but he'll need surgery. My vet is conferring with a wildlife specialist and in the next day or two, I'll be instructed where to take him for the surgery. I cry even now to think that this little tort (10 months) will have his plastron cut open to get to the stone. I'll keep everyone posted on his progress. But, for now, I'm thinking of you and feel so sorry for you. Can I help in any other way? Sibi

I am so sorry to hear about your tort. He knows he was loved by you and had the best few years of his life with you. I am Sending healing thoughts your way. Give yourself time to grieve, cry and be sad. Time will ease the pain.

Thank you very much, I keep telling myself she's okay now, that she's not in pain to ease some of my grief, and it really does reassure me with that fact. We buried her in her favourite spot in the garden this morning, and it's somewhat relaxing to know that now she's somewhere she loved to be. I'm sorry to hear about your tortoise's condition, I hope everything will turn out alright, I'm sure he'll be fine after the surgery, my hopes are with you and your little one.

I don't usually go anyplace but the sulcata portion of this forum but today I decided to browse looking for another post. I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to yours. I'd be a mess. I'm praying for your comfort in hopes that your broken heart heals soon and you can be happy with your memories and confident that you were the very best caretaker this tort could have had. If it was someone else, she may not have gotten the life she did have. God bless you my friend.

TortoiseGurl, I am so sad at your loss. I wish things could have turned out better for you and hope you can find another special friend to share your life with in the near future.

Sibi, I just went through bladder stone surgery, 10 cm size stone, and hope everything works out well for you. It always sounds bad, but it does not seem to be that bad, my little guy is in his third week of recovery.

Thank you Arnold...I really needed to hear that. I should be hearing from the vet tomorrow. When I speak to the specialist, I'll keep you posted. Here's a photo of Beasty Boy. He's the one on the left. Sibi

I hate hearing the story of a fated pet store tortoise. After 5 years with her, hoping everything will end well, it's the worst sort of heartbreak. But when you choose and love such a tortoise you are their guardian angel, giving them more years and happiness than they would have found otherwise. She certainly loved you in whichever way a tortoise does love, and the only pain now is your own.

RIP to your tort

Ah, this exactly. Thank you, this was very touching. R.I.P to Leroy as well.

Sibi, what a beautiful tort you have, he reminds me a bit of my Iggy. I'm waiting eagerly for his news, I hope all will be well, though I am sure it will be.
