My First Setup

Hi guys! This is my first post and I am looking for some opinions about my tortoise setup..

I have a year old Greek Tortoise.. and here is my setup:


Tank: 100 or 120gallons (5' long x 20" wide x 20" height)

Substrate: Exo Tera Coco Hust & Zilla Bark Blend

Light: 75W UVA, 12W UVB & 30 Natural Daylight T8 flourecent bulb
(freshwater aquarium bulb)

... i hear a lot of people keeping their tortoises in plastic containers.. is glass bad? please let me know if I am doing anything wrong...tips or ideas

Were you a big fan of "Lost" or is your name really John Locke? May we know where you are?

Your habitat sounds ok, but is there any chance you can set the tortoise up outside? They really do better outside. Does your tortoise have a hiding place? I prefer the mercury vapor bulbs (MVB) because you get heat plus UVB out of one light/fixture. Can we see pictures?

I live in Canada so it can get pretty cold up here... so I am trying to establish the best possible habitat and keep him/her indoors..

Pics would be great. Not sure where you are in Canada, but there are some folks who keep torts outside in Michigan, and New England, so even a few months a year can be helpful. They tend to thrive outside, then you keep them inside the rest of the year.
