Okay. You can't just come in here and drop a bomb like that with no explanation. Sheesh.

I now have a new nicest looking captive raised sulcata that I've ever seen. Several of us (okay, mostly me) have been a bit obsessed with figuring out the whole pyramiding thing lately. You apparently figured it out 4 years ago. Nice job!

Now here's your opportunity to make the world a better place for tortoises. Please tell us:
1. What was his routine like for the first year or so?
A. Soaks? How often? Did he have a bowl for drinking water?
B. Shell spraying? Backyard sprinklers? Olive oil or anything similar on the shell?
C. Substrate in his first enclosures?
D. Humidity?
E. I saw the bit on diet, but is that it? Grazing on dandelions from the golf course and grass? An occasional tomato?
F. Did you use a humid hide box or did he have somewhere humid to hang out? Like a burrow?
G. Supplements. What? How much? How often?
2. I know that the weather and climate is highly variable in TX. What is it like in your neck of the woods?
3. I noticed a very familiar grayish, smudgy film on his shell. Hard water stains? All of my youngin's have that.
4. How old was he when you got him and where did you get him from?

We would all love to see more pics of him. If you've got any from when he was younger, I'd love to see those too.

Again my compliments. He looks excellent and his size and weight are great for his age too. Okay, now I have to go back and oogle your pics some more. Thanks

 i have had "silo" from four weeks, he was raised indoors in the winter in a southern facing window and ate tortoise chow during winter. lived in an enclosure outside during the first 3 summers where he burrowed. spent last winter outside in a small storage shed with a heat pad. during summer he lives off the bermuda grass and the dandelions i hunt in the spring, wont eat the chow. never put anything on his shell, it looks gray because he has a small burrow he just came out of and is dirty. guess i got lucky, will post new photos soon. I am happy you all think he is healthy. How large are your 4 year olds?

As I recall, he is 18" and 25 or 30#...but in the intro picture, his face did look like a youngster's...and I have seen what happens when some people power feed, but this guy is perfect! Keep up the GREAT work!

Noticed you originally had 2 sulcatas, what happened to the other one? Did you ever find out what that 'indent' was?
