It was a nice day today so Mr. Snarky decided to go out and catch some rays. 5 1/2 hasn’t started brumating yet so there was a close encounter of the tortoise kind. We are all done sunny now so he’s back in his enclosure that Mark built.

I can’t believe how much he’s growing up. 5 1/2 who had the picture was before looks miniature and the Desert tortoise baby got stomped on.

Why are you mixing species? That is such a bad thing to do. You are risking everyone of their lives. Beautiful torts specially the leopard.

Thanks for sharing these pictures. It’s really cool to see how much the leopard has grown and how the markings on his shell have changed. All of your tortoises are beautiful!

I don’t make species I brought him outside from his control. The temperature controlled humidity chamber and took a picture and then brought him back in.

That's okay, I knew what you meant. Just be careful. If he were to eat or walk through where the others pooped or peed, etc, that could be enough to transmit.

He is more than big enough to live outside. Unfortunately I live in Phoenix and it’s actually too hot/dry for him. When the weather is good, I take him outside. I have separate area for him relative to the two females and single male desert tortoises. Those three have been living together for about 25 years. I watch carefully for any signs that there’s stress with the deserts. The only stresses when the male is chasing to mate. I tried setting up a soaking area for the leopard but he destroyed my setup and I’m not known for being very skilled in building stuff. I impressed myself that I assembled the home I got from Mark for Snarky. I need to figure a new way to ensure humidity even if I resort to misters. Open to ideas!

What you need to do is figure out how he can live outside 24/7. problems will arise if he doesn't have the proper space to roam. Walking issues, digestive issues, etc. Others do it in AZ. Misters outside on timers. Added bushes for shade. Maybe even digging them/him a burrow into the ground. A member that lives near your area, @Neal raised or still raises them. Maybe he will give some ideas of how he houses his outside in AZ.
